Alzheimer’s-The President’s Disease

When Alzheimer’s Disease is mentioned many people think of President Ronald Regan who struggled with the illness privately during the last years of his life. Because of Regan’s struggle, a lot of information has been disseminated about Alzheimer’s.


Alzheimer’s is thought of as an “old people’s disease” but it can strike people of all ages. Early-onset Alzheimer’s refers to someone who is diagnosed with the disease and is under 65 years old.


According to the Alzheimer’s Association, Alzheimer’s slowly destroys memory, reasoning and ability to communicate and handle daily activities. In the later stages of the disease, those suffering from Alzheimer’s may be agitated, anxious and delusional and totally dependent on a loved one or caregiver.

Eye Chart Screenings May Be Inadequate and Cause Low Reading Scores

A Guide To The Importance of Physical Education Programs

Physical activity offers a broad range of benefits, including the prevention of obesity, improved self confidence, and an overall sense of well-being. Physical education programs within the school setting can set the stage for how children view physical fitness, activity levels, and future health. Physical education programs also include general health and safety information in addition to providing opportunities for students to learn how to cooperate with one another in a team setting.

Train for Muscular Strength - Not for Muscular Size

Train Muscular Strength, Muscular Power and Muscular Endurance for Functional Strength Performance… Not Muscular Size for “Appearance”.


Training for muscular strength, power and endurance will bring about more functional improvements than training for muscular size or appearance.


There is a big difference between training for muscle mass and training for muscular strength, power and endurance.


Each type of muscular strength must be trained for optimum performance under any circumstance.

Fitness and Wellness Principles: Part 2 Exercise and Fitness

Being physically fit provides a foundation for overall health and well being (Health and Fitness Principles). We can define physical fitness as, the physical attributes and skills that one has that allows them to perform the tasks of daily living effectively and alertly, while leaving an adequate amount of energy in reserve for recreational and/or emergency activities (Health and Fitness Principles). When we hear the term, physical fitness, we typically think of activities such as running, jumping, or lifting weights. But, fitness involves much more than how much you can “lift”, how fast you can run, or how high you can jump (Physical Activity and Health).
